Mom and I ended our food-trippy weekend by watching "Namets" the movie, an Ilonggo film about love, food, and LOVE OF FOOD. The film featured local talents and more sikat artistas with Ilonggo roots. Protagonist Christian Vasquez was nice to look at as usual and sounded much better speaking his native tongue than trying hard to be Tagalog. Angel Jacob was medyo pitla but "A" for effort at trying to sound "ow-ten-tic". It was a fun no-brainer movie to watch. I had a hoot seeing people I know on screen! Can I just say, ka angayan man lang gid ya kay Andre mag goon! And Peque Gallaga had the best part of all -- no speaking lines, just udak and udak. hahaha. It made me a little nostalgic (syempre, kilanlan St. Scho-La-Salle gid ya ang schools nila) and a little homesick (for the food, glorious food!) If you are from Bacolod but live abroad and are on a diet this film is sheer torture. Hay, so proud of our namit namit food. Lain man gid panabor sang Ilonggo ah!

Hi everyone! Merry, Merry Christmas! This year was especially great because we were able to spend it at home, just like the good old days
Our first stop was Bob's, as usual.
Crispy Pata
Sate Babe with Sate Rice
Eat-all-you-can Mongolian
Baby Back Ribs
Siopao
I think the pictures speak for themselves. Wish you were here!
Happy Holidays!

Just recovered from a bad case of tonsillitis last week (I had NO VOICE and yet had to chat up a storm with all the mommies in the ER, with matching stomach upset and vomiting coz I couldn't tolerate the antibiotics). Now I'm sick again with cough, colds, and just a general yucky feeling. Ka mahal mag pedia resident! This is my 3rd bug in 4 months. Have to buy antibiotics halos every month! And yes, I'm a good girl, I load up on vitamins and I do wait a week before making laklak antibiotics. Lack of sleep plus virus/bacteria-loaded kids who don't know how to wash their hands and cover their mouth is a recipe for disaster. So here I am, weathering another illness... hoping it goes away with just water therapy...
I swear, I'm quitting the minute I catch something more serious like pneumonia. It's sooo not worth it.

Pau and I are corny. We don't celebrate celebrate Valentine's Day (in the typical gooey romantic sense). We don't even buy each other gifts 'cept for little stuff we pick up at the last minute. Like this year, I just bought a bunch of Toblerone and a pack of polvoron (bought at the nearby drug store hahaha). Of course, ang totoo dyan, ako rin nakinabang. Hahaha! For the past 3 or 4 years we've made it our tradition to just buy our favorite cold cuts, cheeses and other goodies from Santis and pig out in the comfort of home (sans traffic).
This year was a pleasant change from routine. Tippi and Mykie hosted a pre-Valentine dinner (yes, I spent V-day in the hospital). Chef Nessie, inspired by the Lifestyle network, cooked up a storm! We had Caviar Pie, Salad with shrimp wrapped in bacon, soup (was that pumpkin?), and a gigantic tender juicy steak with peppercorn sauce. Yum yum guid!
My favorite girl friends organized a bridal shower for me on December 15, 2006 (after the rehearsal and on the eve of our wedding). Complete with Princess tiaras, bananas *wink*, and fun fun games! Really a great one, girls! Thanks! I felt like a star!
It had been more than 5 years since I had a Zaldarriaga cake... lo and behold, Patty transported one all the way from Bacolod (a good 3-4 hrs ride). Yumyum Strawberry Chiffon! The girls really know how to make the Foodie Kat happy

To give proper credit, the design was based on this drawing by our friend Mitzi.

Hey, my favorite junk food is now "healthier!" hahaha!

You know, it's weird, but when I eat potato chips straight from the bag I always get an attack of allergic rhinitis. My nose gets unbearably itchy and my eyes get all watery and itchy as well. Eating it from a bowl helps a lot. I think it's all the spices and stuff on the chips that start floating in the air when you dig deep into the bag. Oh well!

- Music:The owl playing Warcraft
We visited Tagaytay Highlands a few weeks ago (to EAT of course!) I know there's a branch in Mall of Asia, but nothing beats the original. For one, it doesn't have the COOL WEATHER and NICE VIEW... I think I'm blessed that the Owl is from Lipa, so visiting my in-laws is always a pleasant experience.
Anyway, here's what greeted me at the door...

But of course, after having steak at home the night before, I decided to order this...

Oh My Gulay talaga!

The Owl enjoying the nice ambiance. Oh, see the long table of American tourists at the back? Parang wala sa 'Pinas noh?

Cool enough to stay outdoors.

FRESH AIR! It's nice to take a break from all the smog in Makati once in a while.
